One of the most iconic images of 1990s X-Men involved Rogue and her travels through the Savage Land. However, despite the evocative imagery, surprisingly few pages were devoted to her adventures in the infamous lost world. This oversight will be corrected in a new miniseries, Rogue: The Savage Land .

Scheduled to run for five issues, Rogue: The Savage Land will fill in the gaps regarding one of the most popular X-Men’s greatest adventures. It will be written by Tim Seeley , known to Marvel fans for his recent work on Venom War and Wolverine . The art will be provided by Zulema Lavina , a graduate of the Marvel Art Atelier, in her Marvel Comics debut.

Rogue’s time in the Savage Land came during the legendary X-Men run of Chris Claremont and Jim Lee . In Uncanny X-Men #269, she fought Carol Danvers , who was still known as Ms. Marvel at this time. During their fight, Rogue was pushed through a portal into the lost world.

This experience had a profound effect on Rogue, who was forced to depend on her own skills and strengths after being depowered. This toughened her up and made her less dependent on her powers. However, the details of how she survived were not revealed in the pages of Uncanny X-Men. Indeed, her story was not touched on again until Uncanny X-Men #274, where she was inexplicably allied with Magneto and Ka-Zar. Rogue: The Savage Land will explore what the original three-issue arc only teased, like the romance between Rogue and Magneto.

“In these five issues, I get to utilize my love for X-Men, Jim Lee, Chris Claremont, Zabu, scantily clad heroines (and heroes!), and probably most importantly: dinosaurs,” Seeley told Polygon. “Alongside my collaborator Zulema Lavina, we’re going to deliver something fresh while honoring the impossibly sexy and epic classic tale of a young Rogue and two of the weirdest allies a girl from Mississippi could ask for: Magneto and Ka-Zar.”

Rogue: The Savage Land #1 arrives on comic shops everywhere on January 15, 2025.
