Avengers: Doomsday Rumor Says Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Will Lead

Speculations regarding the plot of Avengers: Doomsday have been running wild ever since Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU was confirmed. Nevertheless, Marvel Studios is actively working towards keeping the narrative of Avengers 5 a secret. As such, fans currently find themselves in the dark with respect to the roles of their favorite superheroes. However, a recently surfaced rumor has suggested that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man would take up the leading part in Avengers 5 .

Tom Holland rumored to lead Avengers: Doomsday but not Secret Wars

According to the said theory, Tom Holland will serve as the principal character of Avengers 5. However, he will supposedly have a reduced part in the sixth Avengers flick.

The update was first published by MyTimeToShineHello , an online journalist. In one of his latest X (formerly Twitter) posts, the internet scooper shed light on Tom Holland’s role in Avengers: Doomsday, as well as Avengers: Secret Wars. He claimed that Holland’s Spider-Man will appear as “the main lead” in Avengers 5 but will play “a smaller role in Secret Wars.”

The wall-crawling superhero has surprisingly been absent from the MCU since his appearance in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, Holland is set to reprise his role in the currently untitled Spider-Man 4 before returning for Avengers 5. While Sony has yet to allot an official release date to the project, it could premiere sometime in 2025.

Avengers: Doomsday will also serve as Robert Downey Jr.’s second full-fledged debut in the MCU. The Iron Man star is set to portray Doctor Doom, having replaced Jonathan Majors’ villainous Kang following the latter’s firing. As such, RDJ will also reunite with Holland’s Spider-Man in Avengers 5, having last interacted with the web-slinger in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

As per the current schedule, Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit the big screens on May 1, 2026. Meanwhile, its direct sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, is slated for a May 7, 2027 premiere.
