‘American Pickers’ Will Film in Iowa This September
Earlier this summer, the show 'Antiques Roadshow' made a stop in Iowa to film a couple of episodes. Now, another popular show will be returning to the state to film!. A recent article from the Iowa City Press-Citizen reports that 'American Pickers' is set to do some antique-hunting in Iowa in September of 2024. If you're not familiar with the History Channel series, the official website reads:

DES MOINES, Iowa [KCCI/Iowa State Fair]— The Iowa State Fair’s list of Iowans of the Day was released, today (Thursday). The Iowan of the Day program was created by the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation in 1997 to honor outstanding Iowans who have made a difference all across the state, according to a news release from the foundation.
This weekend in Iowa: Happy 100th to James Baldwin, Hinterland hits Iowa and a deep dive into Chicago House
We’re thick into the dog days of summer, and a plethora of events in Iowa this weekend will be bringing even more heat. The big event is the Hinterland Festival in Saint Charles with headliners Hozier, Vampire Weekend and Noah Kahan. James Baldwin would have turned 100 this Friday. To celebrate, Iowa City’s FilmScene is screening I Heard it Through the Grapevine, a documentary featuring the author’s commentary and insights on the Civil Rights Era. The film will be accompanied with readings from Baldwin’s works and there will be snacks. Over in Rock Island, the SPECTRA Reading Series returns with a multidisciplinary deep dive into Chicago House music. Author Marguerite L. Harrold will read from her upcoming book exploring the culture and community of Chicago House before guest Dj’s Samuel P. and Leja Hazer take over for a dance party. Election 2024: RFK Jr. pushes to get on Iowa ballot
DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Television Iowa Capitol Bureau) - Independent Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says he’s met the requirements to be on the ballot in Iowa. Independent candidates have a different way of getting on the ballot than Republicans or Democrats. Back in April, Kennedy held a convention in Des Moines where he had to get at least 500 eligible electors’ names and addresses to turn into Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate’s office. Kennedy’s campaign says he turned in 750 names Tuesday.
