College Football Coach & Former Michigan Player Quits Job Following Disturbing Arrest For Human Trafficking
Former University of Michigan football player Patrick Kugler was arrested last week in Tennessee for allegedly searching online to find a minor he could have sex with. The 29-year-old was one of six men arrested by undercover agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Human Trafficking Unit, along with Homeland Security agents and Clarksville police officers.
Ron Weiser loses GOP nomination for University of Michigan regent seat
ANN ARBOR, MI - Ron Weiser, one of two Republicans on the University of Michigan Board of Regents, did not win the party’s nomination for the November general election. Weiser, the former Michigan GOP chair, who first won his regents seat in 2016, lost his re-election bid during the Republican party’s Saturday, Aug. 24 convention. There are two seats at stake on Nov. 5, with Republicans Sevag Vartanian and Carl Meyers and Democrats incumbent Denise Ilitch and challenger Shauna Ryder Diggs now on the ballot.

Monday was one of Michiana's largest back-to-school days. Students in Benton Harbor, along with many other Michigan districts, returned to the classroom. Only a handful of students in our area, including Edwardsburg and New Buffalo, will go back to school after Labor Day next week.
