Kai Lenny goes Switch, Nate Florence Lights up Jeffreys Bay (Video)

Last week we featured Nate Florence , Kai Lenny and Kohl Christensen striking opening day at Skeleton Bay on two hours notice.

After a literal marathon day (Florence clocked 26.3 miles paddling, surfing and walking back up the point), the crew had just one night to recover before flying south to meet the same swell at South Africa's crown jewel: Jeffreys Bay . No rest for the weary.

In the latest edit, playing above, the trio paddle out to fairly busy J-Bay where they scavenge for insiders. As you'll see, an "insider" at J-Bay is still a 30-second leg burner, with multiple barrel sections and endless opportunity to draw beautiful lines.

While Florence jokes in the beginning that this weeks episode features "three big wave surfers surfing small waves," it's actually rad to see these guys jump off the slab/scary wave tour, even if it's just for a day or two. While we watch enough of Florence to know he shreds in everything, it's not often that we see a clip featuring Christensen and Lenny stringing together open face combos on a long reeling right.

Most impressive is Lenny surfing switch-foot. Sure, we've seen clips of Italo Ferreira ripping as a regular-footer, but it still looks a little awkward. In the case of Lenny, when he jumps from his regular stance into riding goofy, there's hardly a hitch in his surfing. At the 10:30 mark, Lenny goes from a swooping frontside arc straight into a backside fin ditch on his next turn. Is this the future of surfing?
