Bay Area surfers: there’s a special treat coming your way. Not talking about west swells groomed by indian summer offshores (although that should be inbound soon!). No, this is about the first-ever Ocean Beach Surf Film Festival, which is happening at the Balboa Theater in San Francisco from September 13-15. Tickets can be bought online here .

Organizers from Mollusk Surf Shop, CinemaSF and Tunnel Records have curated a selection of classic and contemporary surf films that will be played on the big screen in mid-September. There’s surfing original blockbuster, The Endless Summer , Hollywood’s star-laden swing in Point Break, and some serious CT-level shredding in Trilogy: New Wave. There are also learning opportunities in the form of the Sanctuary Sharks of the Deep by Rogue Shark Lab and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association.

Summer is winding down on the West Coast. Wash it off with some quality surf cinema.
