SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Surfside Beach police confirmed Thursday afternoon that officers were investigating a shooting at a residence on Hollywood Drive.
Authorities shut down Hollywood Drive between 6th Avenue S. and 7th Avenue S. early Thursday afternoon, saying only that the road was closed while police conducted “necessary work” in the area. Nearly three hours later, the town said in a news release that officers were “investigating a shooting into a dwelling.”
The home where the incident happened is in the 600 block of Hollywood Drive. The town said there is no danger to the public but that police have increased patrols in the area.
The investigation is ongoing, and no additional information was immediately available.
