CenterPoint Energy preparing for Beryl’s impact in the Houston area
HOUSTON – CenterPoint Energy is preparing for Beryl’s impacts as it heads for the Texas coast. The agency says it has been closely monitoring the forecasts and preparing for potential impacts to its natural gas and electric systems as Beryl is forecasted to make landfall as a hurricane on Monday.

Texas Couple Homeless After Truck/Camper Fire Saturday Near Ottawa
You hear of vehicle fires, but, rarely, do you hear the story of the owners. On Saturday, a Texas couple lost their only home, a truck and camper, to a fire on westbound Interstate 80 between Utica and Ottawa. Wallace Fire Chief Chris Backos says they were summoned at about 12:45 Saturday afternoon to I-80 along with the Utica Fire Department. Upon their arrival, firefighters found the truck engulfed. It resulted in both vehicles destroyed and a $250,000 loss. No one, including pets were hurt and firefighters saved some belongings.
Indiana and Illinois Arby’s Locations Affected by Franchisee Bankruptcy
After filing for bankruptcy, a small Arby's franchisee is selling some locations and closing others. Miracle Restaurant Group LLC, a company based out of Louisiana has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Supreme Court Nixes Review Of Rodney Reed's Texas Death Row Case
The U.S. Supreme Court is declining a Texas Death Row inmate the chance to have his murder case reviewed. Rodney Reed was found guilty in 1998 of killing 19-year-old Stacey Stites in Bastrop. Reed's supporters claim Stites's fiancé was the killer, and say Reed was convicted as a black man accused of killing a white woman. Without comment, the Supreme Court rejected Reed's petition for a writ of certiorari, which would have ordered the trial court to deliver the case records to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals for review.
