Signal work planned for Surprise intersection

The city of Surprise is upgrading traffic signals at Bell Road and R.H. Johnson Boulevard.

Installing the electrical wiring for the signals will require overnight traffic restrictions.

Work will begin at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, June 7 and is expected to be completed around 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 8.

During this time, the signals will not be operational, and officers will be directing traffic at the intersection.

Additional traffic restrictions include:

• Bell will be restricted to one lane in each direction.
• All left turns at the intersection will be prohibited.
• Southbound lanes of R.H. Johnson will be restricted to a right turn only.
• Traffic wanting to travel northbound across Bell at the intersection will be detoured to Smokey Drive.
