Surry County released a notice to the public Wednesday morning of an upcoming meeting of the Flat Rock — Bannertown Water and Sewer District Board.

The meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 20, at 6 p.m. and will be held in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room on the top floor of the Historic Courthouse located at 114 W. Atkins Street in Dobson.

Last year the Surry County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to transfer ownership of the Flat Rock — Bannertown Sewer and Water District to the City of Mount Airy.

According to Assistant to the County Manager Andrew Wright, “The Board of County Commissioners will pause their meeting for the Flat Rock — Bannertown Authority to convene next Monday night.” Those meetings will both take place at the same time on Monday.

“There was two to three months where the Flat Rock — Bannertown water and sewer authority operated during the last fiscal year, prior to the transfer to Mount Airy. That period required an audit and I understand that is the last order of business for that authority,” he explained.

Questions can be directed to the County Manger’s Office at 336 401-8211, or via email at wrighta@co.surry.nc.us.
