Four local baseball players were recognized on the N.C. Baseball Coaches Association’s All-State Teams.

East Wilkes’ Seth Lambert was named to the 1A All-State Team, while three Forbush players were named to the 2A All-State Team: Gavin Maines, Thomas Conrad and Riley Campbell.

    Seth Lambert

East Wilkes, INF/P/OF, Class of 2025

Of all the eight All-State selections across Surry, Stokes, Wilkes and Yadkin Counties, Lambert was the only non-senior.

The junior led East Wilkes to a 14-10 overall record and a third-place finish in the Northwest 1A Conference. Lambert was awarded All-Conference Honors in addition to his All-State selection.

Lambert made his biggest impact at the plate, where he totaled 38 hits with a .494 batting average. His 38 hits included two home runs, two triples, five doubles and 29 singles. Lambert also posted 26 RBIs and scored 20 runs.

Lambert also spent some time on the mound. He finished the season with 20.2 innings pitched, a 1-0 record, 19 strikeouts, six bases on balls, 28 hits allowed, and 22 runs allowed.

Fielding stats were not available on MaxPreps.

    Gavin Maines

    Forbush, LHP/1B, Class of 2024

Maines is the only local baseball player that was named 2A All-State for the second-straight year.

The Foothills 2A Conference Player of the Year helped lead Forbush to a sweep of the FH2A Conference Regular Season and Tournament Titles. The Falcons finished the year 25-3 and reached the third round of the 2A State Playoffs.

The left-handed pitcher finished the year with a perfect 9-0 record on the mound. He also threw three no-hitters, which was tied for the most in the nation according to MaxPreps. Maines tossed 121 strikeouts this season and tied for No. 20 in the nation with a 0.12 ERA.

At the plate, Maines recorded 38 hits and tied for 20th in the state with 39 runs scored. He also had 21 RBIs, 10 doubles, two triples and one home run. Maines finished the year with a .487 batting average, a .585 on-base percentage and a .705 slugging percentage.

    Thomas Conrad

    Forbush, RHP/SS, Class of 2024

Conrad is the second of three Forbush Falcons named to the 2A All-State Team.

Conrad, a right-handed pitcher, was also recognized as MVP of the FH2A Conference Tournament, and was named FH2A Pitcher of the Year. He tied for No. 20 in the state in strikeouts with 102, and led Forbush with 60 innings pitched. Conrad had an ERA of 1.28 and finished the season with a 6-3 record on the mound.

Conrad hammered 41 RBIs in 2024, which tied for ninth in the state. He racked up 28 hits in 28 games, while also scoring 28 runs. He finished the year with a .364 batting average.

Conrad will continue his baseball career at Northwest Florida State College.

    Riley Campbell

    Forbush, LHP/OF/1B, Class of 2024

The Falcons’ final All-State selection was senior Riley Campbell.

Forbush relied on three deadly pitchers, and Campbell led all three with 10 wins on the mound; he was one of only 12 players in the state to post double-digit wins. The southpaw threw 65 strikeouts and allowed just nine hits in 41 2/3 innings pitched. Campbell finished the year with an ERA of 0.34, which ranked No. 7 in the state.

Campbell, who was named to the FH2A All-Conference and All-Tournament teams, recorded 34 hits on the year; this included two home runs, a team-high four triples, six doubles and 22 singles. He also had 33 RBIs and a .420 batting average.
