As the 2024-2025 school year approaches, Surry County Schools released a statement this week expressing their excitement to welcome new assistant principals at seven schools. The school district said the changes reflect the district's commitment to leadership development and educational excellence.

Gentry Middle School assistant principal Amanda Adams leads the move with her transition to Cedar Ridge Elementary School.

Adams is being replaced with Hanna Holder, who had previously served as the assistant principal at Pilot Mountain Elementary School.

Several new assistant principals have also been appointed by Surry County Schools. Crystal Boyles will serve as assistant principal at both Pilot Mountain Elementary School and White Plains Elementary School.

Brittany Branch has been hired as the assistant principal at Central Middle School.

DeAnna Walker will join North Surry High School as its new assistant principal.

At Surry Central High School Stephen Young will serve as the assistant principal.

Superintendent Dr. Travis L. Reeves commented, “I am grateful to work with a Board of Education and a leadership team that shares a common vision of ‘Designing Dreams. Growing Leaders.’ Our Leadership Framework supports this vision by committing to cultivate a culture of leadership and equipping all individuals with the skills necessary to live, learn, and lead as productive citizens.”

“The appointment of these new assistant principals highlights our dedication to developing school leaders. Change, while challenging, fosters growth, and our district takes great pride in investing in the personal and professional development of our leaders,” Reeves said.

“I am thankful to our Board of Education for supporting the leaders in our district and am honored to work with such a dedicated and dynamic team. I look forward to the new 2024-2025 school year.”

Students return to Surry County Schools on August 8.
