    2023-11-07

There were several armed robberies on Monday evening and early Tuesday in Colorado Springs, according to the Colorado Springs Police DepartmentColorado Springs Police Department blotter.

The first report came in at around 7:48 p.m., and officers responded to the 1800 block of Aeroplaza Drive, where a suspect reportedly entered a business, brandished a handgun, and demanded money. The suspect left the business with an undisclosed amount of money.

At around 9:40 p.m., two suspects reportedly entered a business in the 3900 block of North Academy, pointed a gun, and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. At around 9:55 p.m., a suspect reportedly entered a business in the 5800 block of Corporate Drive, pulled a gun, and demanded money. It appears that a suspect in all three of these robberies is the same person based on video footage and witness statements.

Around 12:19 a.m., Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of N. Nevada Avenue on an additional report of a robbery that is not indicated to be connected to the others. In this case, two males of unknown race, wearing face masks and measuring around 6' and 6'5" entered a business, brandished handguns, and demanded money.

According to the Common Sense Institute, robberies in Colorado have increased in recent years. In 2021, the city saw 82 robberies, while that number jumped to 94 in 2022.

Like anything else, allow lawlessness and criminals are going to come to the areas least likely to punish crime and criminals.
