    Jefferson County Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Roommate

    A man in Jefferson County has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing his roommate on Saturday, February 24. According to a press release from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, on that day, the Jeffcom Communications Center received a 911 call at 3:42 PM from a male who reported that he had been involved in a shooting in the 4700 block of Parmalee Gulch Road.

    Upon arriving at the scene, deputies contacted Knapp in the driveway of the residence and took him into custody. They searched the home and discovered a deceased adult male victim who had suffered gunshot wounds. Knapp was scheduled to make his first court appearance in the case on Monday morning. The investigation continues.

    According to a 2023 report from the Common Sense Institute, crime in Colorado costs the state around $4,623 per person, with homicide being the most costly crime. In a year's time (2022), Jefferson County experienced more than 42,600 crimes, ranking fourth highest in crimes behind Denver, Adams, and El Paso counties. Jefferson County's crime rate is 107 percent of the state average.
