Included on the agenda are public hearings for a conditional-use application filed by Joshua Wharton for a landscaping business on an 8.5-acre parcel on Alma’s Way off Wil King Road near Lewes, and a conditional-use application filed by Play It Safe LLC for a professional office at 1510 Savannah Road, Lewes.
Sussex County Man Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit Through Multiple Jurisdictions
SUSSEX COUNTY, DE - A Georgetown man was arrested after a high-speed pursuit through multiple jurisdictions on Monday. On July 8th, at approximately 2:50am, an officer from the Laurel Police Department initiated a traffic stop near Sussex Highway and Georgetown Road. The officer observed a vehicle traveling at speeds exceeding 100mph in a 55mph zone and attempted to pull the vehicle over. Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated in an effort to evade the officer, prompting a pursuit.

Man arrested for theft of two vehicles, robbery in Delaware
FRANKFORD, Del. – A Frankford man is behind bars on charges stemming from multiple investigations in Kent and Sussex Counties. On Friday, troopers were called to Hertrich Chevrolet of Dover for a reported stolen vehicle. It was learned that a man arrived at the dealership in a Mini Cooper and asked to test drive a vehicle. The man then reportedly got into a gray 2024 Chevrolet Silverado, locked himself inside, and disregarded the car salesman trying to stop him as he fled from the dealership without providing any identification. A computer check on the vehicle that the suspect arrived in led police to a Frankford address, and troopers learned that the stolen Silverado was tracking at a residence on Powell Farm Road in Frankford.

Sussex County Man Arrested on Firearm Charges Following Traffic Stop
LAUREL, DE - A Sussex County man was arrested on firearms and other charges after a traffic stop on Sunday. On Sunday, July 7th, around 9:27pm, Laurel Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a black Audi A4 in the Carvel Gardens Apartment Complex. Officers stopped the vehicle for a registration violation, according to LPD.
Down Syndrome Association hosts summer camp
The Down Syndrome Association of Delaware hosted its 14th annual Days of Summer Camp Sussex County June 24-28 at its office in Milton. The camp was for individuals with Down syndrome ages 3-13 and their siblings ages 3-10. The campers enjoyed opportunities to splash in the water, play in the sun, play games, dance and build crafts, and have just fun like any other kid at camp.
Frankford Man Arrested for Stolen Vehicle & Robbery
A Frankford man has been arrested for robbery and stolen vehicle offenses following multiple investigations that occurred in Kent and Sussex Counties last Friday. Just after 11:30 on Friday, police were called to Hertrich Chevrolet in Dover for a stolen Silverado. The suspect requested a test drive, then locked himself inside and drove off without providing any identification to the dealership. He left a Mini Cooper at the dealership which police found registered to an address on Powell Farm Road in Frankford – and the tracking device on the truck was also at that residence – and found in the driveway. Troopers contacted the occupant, 42 year old Thomas Pusey, and arrested him.

Supermarket News posted a list this week that shows a Harris-Teeter store in Selbyville would be sold off to meet antitrust concerns from a proposed merger of Albertsons and Kroger. That would leave coastal Delaware with one Harris-Teeter in Coastal Sussex County.
