Woman found dead after report of fight in Sacramento; homicide investigation underway
SACRAMENTO – A homicide investigation is underway in Sacramento after a woman was found dead Tuesday morning. Sacramento police say, around 6 a.m., officers responded to the area of N. 12th and N. C streets to investigate a reported fight. First responders soon found a woman on the ground; she had at least one puncture wound, police say. Medics pronounced the woman dead, police say. Her name has not been released. Homicide detectives are now taking over the investigation. No one is in custody, police say, and anyone with information relevant to the investigation is urged to call detectives at (916) 808-5471. Due to the investigation, N. 12 Street is closed between Sproule Avenue and N. B Street. Light rail service on SacRT's Blue Line has also been affected, with a bus bridge now in place between Cathedral Square and the Arden/Del Paso stations.Updated story to follow.
