Broken glass forces closing of Crompton Park pool
WORCESTER — The city pool at Crompton Park will be closed until Saturday after pieces of glass were found in the water. Workers will need to drain the pool and search the floor for any glass. Refilling the pool and balancing chemicals will add to the timetable. A clear bottle had apparently been thrown over a fence during hours the pool was closed. There was glass on the pool deck and in the water. Meantime, high temperatures will continue Wednesday, with readings in the 90s, before slight cooling Thursday and Friday, when the 80s return. WORCESTER – A man police say was driving without a license faces firearms charges after a traffic stop on Sunday, July 14. Officers on patrol on Main Street at around 1 AM observed Onix Aviles, 23, exit a vehicle with a black satchel across his chest. ‘A lifeline’: Cape Cod bridge project to create more than 9,000 jobs in Massachusetts, Healey says
Planned construction work to replace two aging bridges that connect to Cape Cod will create more than 9,000 “high-quality” jobs in Massachusetts, Gov. Maura Healey said Tuesday. Healey and lawmakers gathered in Bourne to formally celebrate the nearly $1 billion in added federal funding for the replacement of the Sagamore Bridge on Cape Cod. Work on the Bourne Bridge is slated to happen after the Sagamore. The recent announcement brings the total funding for the massive bridge project to $1.72 billion, in addition to $700 million in state funding, Healey said. The $993 million awarded to the state Department of Transportation and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is from the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Bridge Investment Program, Healey said.
