A new yoga studio seeks to bring an inclusive wellness space to Suwanee.

Sathya Hot Yoga and Wellness is planned for 4320 Suwanee Dam Road. The studio will include two yoga rooms, offering both heated and non-heated classes, along with a suite of other holistic wellness services and amenities.

The smaller yoga room will be for senior classes, yoga sculpt classes, one-on-one sessions and more. The larger studio, which can hold up to 50 people, will turn up the heat, with a temperature up to 105 degrees. In addition to traditional yoga classes, the studio will feature kurunta yoga, a style that incorporates ropes on the wall.

“It’s great for folks that don’t want to have impact on the knees and legs,” co-owner Kim Johns said. “You’re using the wall as a prop.”

In addition to the yoga rooms, there will be a dry sauna, cold-plunge tubs and a room for massage therapy. Hot/cold sessions will allow visitors to use both the sauna and the cold plunges, alternating between the two. They also plan to host labs on specific poses, like handstands, to help visitors learn and further elevate their practice.

Johns got into yoga in 2021, when she met instructor Gigi Gomez and discovered the powerful effects of the practice. It was a time of a lot of noise, not much peace, and yoga was exactly what she needed.

“I was transforming not only my mind, but my body,” she said. “It just gave me this gratefulness and peace and allowed me to have that time. It was so much more than a workout.”

Three years later, they’re opening a studio together, and the community is excited about it: The presale offering premium benefits to the first 52 members, including on-site mat storage, a water bottle and two months free, sold out.

Sathya Hot Yoga and Wellness Studio is expected to open by early or mid-August.

“It’s more than a yoga space, it’s very inclusive,” Johns said. “You have those yoga studios where everybody’s super fit, all rushing around. Anybody can come in any time. It’s truly for everybody.”
