The Jitterbug Cafe swinging into Swansea soon. Here's what we know so far.

SWANSEA — Calling all early risers: there's a new breakfast spot coming soon to Swansea.

Just over a year after a town staple closed its doors on Route 6, another restaurant will be opening in that same building. This one with a different concept.

It's time to get into the swing of things as The Jitterbug Cafe gears up for a grand opening at 1635 GAR Highway, according to an announcement via Facebook this week.

The building formerly housed One Horse Pizzeria and Saloon, which closed up shop last June after more than a decade in business.

Jitterbug owner Linda Farias confirmed Tuesday that the Route 6 cafe is in the works. She is transforming the Swansea site into a new local go-to spot for breakfast and lunch fare.

In addition to tasty cafe eats, Jitterbug will also serve to shine a spotlight on the SouthCoast creative community, "giving local artists and crafters a place to sell their wonderful creative pieces," the announcement states.

Preparations at The Jitterbug Cafe are still ongoing, and an opening date has not yet been set.
