SWEET SPRINGS W.Va. (WVDN) – At Trail Day on Saturday, July 20 at the Sustainable Forum hosted by Sweet Springs Institute and being held at The Sweet Springs Resort Park there will be:

A lesson on selecting the correct rock to use, cleaning, seasoning, and cooking on said rock. Randy DuPre, a Blackfoot descendent, has taught this technique to several individuals and his nieces and nephews no longer take pots or pans camping or fishing – they use rocks, as do many of their friends. This is a sustainable way to cook and is handy to know.

During the trail hike, there will be numerous activities for children along the trail to help encourage their love of the outdoors and environmental learning, and the chance for the children to join the ECO Warrior program which will enhance ecological awareness through various activities.

In August an extraordinary event is planned. Sweet Springs Resort Park Trail System is hosting a “trail campout” for the Perseids Meteor Shower Aug. 11-13. Sites are limited so RSVP is required. Contact haley_thomas@yahoo.com for more information or to reserve a spot.

The Historic Sweet Springs Turnpike Trail is a National Recreation Trail.

Food vendors will be on hand.
