Sweetwater County Rancher Rides to National Rodeo Success
ROCK SPRINGS – Ira Dickinson, a sixth-generation rancher from Sweetwater County, who found his roots in wrestling and rodeo, has made his mark on the national stage. Raised in the three corners area, Dickinson wrestled in the “Top of the Rock” in Rock Springs in 2008 and continued through his youth. He attended Rock Springs High School for his freshman year before transferring to Green River High School for the remainder of his high school education.
Green River Power Box Art Project deadline approaching
The deadline for the Green River Arts Council (GRAC) Power Box Art Project is fast approaching. Sweetwater County artists who would like to participate in a unique opportunity to transform the community’s power boxes into public art need to have their submissions sent in by Friday, July 19. Artists have the chance to win $200 if their artwork is selected for the power box wrapping project.
YWCA receives United Way grant to support local services
The YWCA of Sweetwater County recently received a $49,600 grant award from the United Way of Southwest Wyoming. Those funds will support the local YWCA’s domestic violence and sexual assault prevention services. The YWCA has been a Community Partner with United Way for nearly all of its 40+ years in Sweetwater County.

Genesis Alkali made a large donation of food and supplies to local food banks and other organizations in Sweetwater County on Monday, July 1. Food and supplies had been ordered in advance as part of the company's preparations to ensure business continuity in the run up to negotiating a new contract with its labor union, according to a press release.
