County museum hosts clay pottery-making class for kids
ROCK SPRINGS -- The Sweetwater County Historical Museum in Green River staged a special clay pottery class for the Boys & Girls Club in Rock Springs on Wednesday, June 26. Pottery is among the oldest and most important of human inventions, extending as far back in history as 30,000 years ago in what is now central Europe. Pottery making spread throughout cultures all over the world, such those of prehistoric indigenous peoples in the American West, including Sweetwater County.

MountainWest Overthrust Pipeline, LLC; Notice of Availability of the Environmental Assessment for the Proposed Westbound Compression Expansion Project
The staff of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC or Commission) has prepared an environmental assessment (EA) for the Westbound Compression Expansion Project, proposed by MountainWest Overthrust Pipeline, LLC (Overthrust) in the above-referenced docket. Overthrust requests authorization to provide an additional 325,000 dekatherms per day (Dth/d) of year-round firm transportation service on Overthrust's mainline (ML) at existing Point of Rocks and Rock Springs Compressor Stations, as well as related facility upgrades and modifications in Sweetwater, Uinta, and Lincoln Counties, Wyoming.
Mining industries say foreign land ownership legislation threatens Wyoming jobs
Some Republican lawmakers have sought to restrict foreign ownership of Wyoming land in recent years, but doing so could put mining industry jobs and tax revenue at risk. That’s what energy industry spokespeople told the Legislature’s Joint Appropriations Committee during a June 20 meeting in Buffalo. “Foreign ownership in Sweetwater County and Southwest Wyoming is a benefit to the state,” Jody Levin, speaking on behalf of the trona industry and the Wyoming Mining Association, told lawmakers. ...
