— The veteran public servant has held multiple roles in the city since 2013 — Miami Beach, FL – Longtime public servant Eric T. Carpenter has been appointed city manager of Miami Beach. Carpenter, who has held multiple high-level positions in the city over the past decade, replaces Alina T. Hudak, who resigned in March after becoming the first woman to serve as city manager.

Man pleads guilty to 1 felony, 2 misdemeanors in Miami-Dade road rage case
MIAMI – A 41-year-old man pleaded guilty to multiple charges in connection with a 2023 road rage incident in far northwest Miami-Dade. Court records show William Angelo Puig pleaded guilty to one count of felony criminal mischief and two misdemeanor counts of battery and leaving the scene of a crash causing damage. Puig will receive probation.
FIU medical student earns prestigious otolaryngology research fellowship
Third-year FIU medical student Hani Samarah has been selected for a prestigious year-long Otolaryngology Research Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University. The fellowship is an invaluable opportunity for a future ENT doctor, allowing Samarah to conduct research, coordinate clinical trials, and gain hands-on experience rotating on the otolaryngology service. He sees it as a “bridge” towards realizing his dream of becoming an academic otolaryngologist.
