The third day of racing saw the U.S. add five more gold medals to their total tally. With 16 total golds to its name, over half of Team USA’s full hardware collection is gold, and they now have over four times as many gold medals as any other nation (Japan is the next closest with three).

LCM (50 meters) The 2024 Paralympic Games are almost here; the Paralympic flame has been lit, and we’re only days away from the Paralympic swimmers hitting the water in La Défense Arena. With 141 events taking place over the ten-day competition, there are many different storylines to follow at this meet, but here are five of the biggest ones on our minds in the lead-up to the start of the competition.

The French governing body for swimming (Fédération Française de Natation) recently released a data analysis booklet of each event raced at the Paris Olympics. In this data-packed guide, information including swimmers’ 25m splits, time spent underwater, total stroke count, and more are laid out in a table with a breakdown of each finalist’s information. Over the next few days, I’ll be choosing some of my favorite races from the Olympics and analyzing the data behind the world’s fastest swimmers.
