Investigators ask for public assistance after property damaged in Charleston's West Side
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — Police are asking for public assistance in an investigation after a homeowner reported damage to an HVAC unit in Charleston's West Side. A destruction of property complaint was made last week in the 200 block of Bream Street, according to a social media post from the Charleston Police Department.

Barbara Kingsolver earned a Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 2023 after penning “Demon Copperhead,” a modern version of Charles Dickens’ “David Copperfield” set in southern Appalachia. The book portrays challenges presented by poverty, foster care and the opioid crisis.

Kanawha man accused of striking two women, one with brass knuckles, pleads guilty
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A man accused of hitting two women, including one with brass knuckles, pleaded guilty Monday, county prosecutors said. Roger Lee Stevens, 30, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding in a Dec. 9, 2023, incident in the Clendenin area, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Prosecutor’s Office.
