New fire station under construction in Harrisonburg
Harrisonburg broke ground on a new fire station Tuesday morning. WMRA's Randi B. Hagi reports. First responders and city leaders gathered in a field on Mount Clinton Pike to break ground on the fifth fire station in town. Retired Fire Chief Larry Shifflett told WMRA there's been a need for this station since the area northwest of downtown joined the city as part of a 1983 annexation.

WASHINGTON, DC (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Fifteen Virginia counties — including Albemarle, Augusta, Greene and Madison — have received primary natural disaster designations from the USDA due to the recent drought. This as we stand to go back into the extremely hot, dry weather pattern that began July from which we’ve gotten a break from in the past couple of weeks. This also means counties bordering these — such as Buckingham, Fluvanna, Orange, Louisa, Nelson, and Culpeper — are also eligible for FSA emergency loans.
Motorcyclist from Crimora Dies in Route 340 Crash North of Waynesboro
DOOMS, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Augusta County north of Waynesboro. According to State Police, a 1994 Ford F450 was traveling north on Route 340, less than a mile north of Dooms Crossing Road, around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday when it veered into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a 2024 Kawasaki Eliminator SE.
