The two Sylvania Township trustees will take some time to sift through the resumes of 17 candidates for the vacant third seat.

Trustee John Crandall retired after the last trustees meeting, which was June 18. Mr. Crandall’s term runs through Dec. 31, 2025.

At Tuesday’s meeting, Neil Mahoney, trustee chairman, said the plan is to “short-list” the names by July 10, then start interviews. They could begin around the next trustees’ meeting, which is July 16, he said.

“And hopefully move pretty quick from there,” Mr. Mahoney said.

The trustees went into a 10-minute executive session for a discussion on the appointment.

The trustees have 30 days to make the appointment, and will have two weeks left after the next trustees’ meeting, if needed, Trustee John Jennewine said.

The applicants are Joel Beren, James Crosby, John DiSalle, Donovan Greening, Judy Hansen, Jill Johnson, Douglas Koop, Michael Kott, Gregory LaManna, Robert Lubell, Susan Nowak, Tom Pruss, Thomas Reynolds, Bruce Saferin, Loren Sengstock, David Shinaver, and Meira Zucker.
