Since the start of the pandemic, New York City, New York and other surrounding areas have suffered in the creative and performing arts industry.

As such, many performers have been unable to share their craft, audiences have been unable to enjoy a good show, and financial losses have been a reality for many others.

For now, though, it seems that Broadway is making its comeback. Currently, New York City has lifted some of their COVID-19 restrictions.

"Springsteen on Broadway" has opened on June 26, and is one of the first Broadway shows to open up to a full-capacity audience since the start of the pandemic. Yes, you heard that correctly, it was a packed audience.

This smash-hit Broadway show is back in New York City for a limited run of new performances. Some of the proceeds from the tickets will be going to charity. These include the Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County and a variety of food banks.

Specifically, "Springsteen on Broadway" had started opening at the St. James Theater on 44th Street with performances continuing onward to September 4, 2021.

You can see the map below:

St. James Theater is the first theater to open its door in April for a pilot program that will set the stage for other Broadway theaters to open safely.

Many hit shows were fighting for a spot of having a first live performance since the closures back on March 20, but Springsteen's show landed at the front of the line earlier this month. This just goes to show, that many people were looking forward to this specific performance.

I mean, you can see the hype in this trailer:

During the first run of the show (before the pandemic), it was a blockbuster hit and it sold out 236 performances.

While St. James Theater is allowing for a full-capacity audience, you will still need to provide proof that you have had a full COVID-19 vaccination. You just have to make sure you are over 16. If you are under the age of 16 and/or need "reasonable accommodations due to a disability or sincerely held religious belief" then you still have to prove that you've tested negative and must wear a mask.

If you're really worried, you can check out this FAQ quite uploaded by Jujamcyn, which owns the St. James Theatre.

For now, it seems there is:

    • An updated theater ventilation system
    • Rigorous cleaning and sanitation protocols
    • Robust accessibility accommodations
    • Contactless options for purchases and transactions

It also seems that the show will run for 2 hours and 20 minutes, with no intermissions, and you can buy tickets on the SeatGeek website. There is a limit of 2 tickets per customer.

The ticket prices may vary depending on the time of the week, and location within the theater, so you may need to budget between $75 and $850. You will have to showcase your mobile tickets via smartphone only via the SeatGeek website or the SeatGeek app.

For now, "Springsteen on Broadway" will run through September 4, 2021, and hopefully, most other broadway shows will return in or around September or later.

To top it off, New York City is planning to do a mega-concert at Central Park in August, where the headliners are Paul Simon, Jennifer Hudson, and Bruce Springsteen. If you can't see him on Broadway, perhaps you can see him in Central Park.

For the people of New York City, New York, perhaps when the pandemic simmers down, you can take a glimpse at some of these fantastical events happening in the city. The people deserve some happiness.
