Although the dog days of summer are still in full swing, winter weather will be here before you know it. To help you prepare for the chilly months ahead, the Old Farmers' Almanac, America’s oldest weather forecaster, just released its 2024-2025 extended winter weather forecast. And it looks like it's going to be a wet and snowy one.

A slow-moving frontal boundary will drop south across the region today and tomorrow, triggering showers and storms today and an area of rain on Tuesday. This boundary extends west to east roughly across Lake Ontario this morning. An area of rain and storms over Canada has moved out over the northern waters of Lake Ontario. This area of precipitation is expected to stay out over the lake until it passes east of the Finger Lakes.

The weekend which is the last weekend before the Labor Day holiday weekend (which is next weekend) is a reminder that summer is winding down so we should take advantage of the nice weather while we have it. This past week has been one of low humidity and cool temperatures. We will be slowly losing both of those this weekend but it will still be rather nice. Today is a day of lots of sunshine and high temperatures will reach into the lower 80s in most locations. Humidity levels are reasonable and should remain so today with dew points in the mid to upper 50s. No rain is forecast anywhere and radars are in silent mode.
