The former Scottish Rite Temple, 110 S. Main, is in a constant stage of revitalization. Kathy and Tracy Dancer, who purchased the building at a public auction, plan an “ongoing effort to revitalize the building and increase the useable commercial space. We also want to improve the energy efficiency of the building.”
Manhattan Gemstone Dealer Charged for Diamond Fraud
Manhattan-based diamond dealer Manashe Sezanayev has been indicted Thursday (July 25) for alleged fraudulent practices against fellow jewelry merchants. The Associated Press reported that 41-year-old Sezanayev, who owns Rachel's Diamonds, allegedly had a scheme where he would swindle other merchants by replacing their real diamonds with a total worth of $460,000 with lab-grown duplicates.

One-time Spring Hill elementary could open again as Catholic school
The now-vacant Hilltop Elementary School near Olathe may welcome students again as early as next year as a private school run by the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. The Archdiocese intends to buy the 4.5-acre property at 16740 W. 175th St. and offer kindergarten through eighth grade education for up to 200 students there.
Johnson County leaders moving forward on homeless services center
Johnson County leaders are moving closer towards a year-round, 24/7 homeless services center in Lenexa, Kan. The Board of County Commissioners Chairman Mike Kelly executed an assignment agreement with reStart Inc., the recommended operator of the proposed center.
