    Woman dead, firefighter injured after fire on city’s southside, man charged with murder and arson

    UPDATE 7-2-2024: Syracuse police identified the woman who died in the fire as 34-year-old Shaquoiya Allison from Syracuse.

    Police also conducted an investigation after the fire and criminally charged 58-year-old Anthony Green from Syracuse in relation to the fire. He is charged with murder in the first-degree and arson in the first-degree.

    Green was already being held at the Onondaga Coutny Justice on unrelated domestic charges. He is now waiting for his arraignment for the fire-related charges, police said.

    SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A woman has died after a fire on Syracuse’s southside.

    It happened on South Avenue, about a block away from Swallow’s.

    A firefighter was also injured. We’re told he fell inside the home. He was taken to the hospital but has since been released.

    As of now, we do not know the name of the woman who was killed.

    The call went out around 11 p.m. Sunday. Fire crews were on scene all night.

    There is heavy damage to the home.
