ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The New York State Department of Transportation wants to alert drivers to expect slowdowns on Saturday, July 20, along Interstates 481 and 690 in the City of Syracuse and Town of DeWitt.

The purpose is to facilitate the removal of a primary utility cable above I-481 over the Manlius Center Road Bridge.

The slowdowns are expected to happen periodically — lasting around 15 minutes — in the following three locations:

    • South on I-481 between Exit 6 (I-90 NYS Thruway) and Exit 4 (I-690 West).
    • North on I-481 between Exit 2 (Jamesville Road) and Exit 5E (Kirkville Road East).
    • East on I-690 between Exit 15 (Midler Ave) and Interstate 481 northbound Exit 5E (Kirkville Road East).

Drivers are asked to use caution when driving through the work zone area and pay attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.

Construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.
