TRAFFIC: I-81 northbound, Exit 16A to be closed weekend of July 26

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Drive beware, there are upcoming closures to I-81 northbound.

The NYSDOT said that the interstate will be closed to traffic between Exit 16A and I-481 southbound merge with I-81 northbound, in the City of Syracuse.

The closure will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 26 until 6 a.m. on Monday, July 29.

“The closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of a drainage pipe as part of the Interstate 81 Viaduct Project,” said the NYSDOT.

There will be a detour at Exit 16A that directs traffic to I-481 north, to Exit 1 (Brighton Ave Rock Cut Rd.), to west on Rock Cut Road, to north on Brighton Avenue, to I-81 northbound.
