Despite having bronze, silver and gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards, I’m not the most seasoned or happy camper. Camping isn’t my favourite thing to do but every summer, I end up going on a camping trip and admittedly, having an amazing time. Having said that, I always feel underprepared by the things I bring with me.

This year’s camping trip consisted of watersports so I decided to take the YETI Camino 20 Carryall with me. The bag claims to be waterproof and resistant, and YETI even claims that you can use it as a washing up bowl when in a tight pinch. So, I tested out the YETI Camino 20 Carryall on my most recent camping trip and this is how I found it.

YETI Camino 20 Carryall review: price and availability

The YETI Camino 20 Carryall is £130 / $130 and available to buy at YETI . It’s available in multiple colours and I tried the limited edition Big Wave Blue version. There are other Camino models available in 35 and 50 sizes – and the bigger they get, the higher the price tag is.

YETI Camino 20 Carryall review: design and features

A quick disclaimer before I get into this review: the YETI Camino 20 Carryall isn’t a cooler. While YETI is most known for its collection of the best cool boxes , the YETI Camino 20 Carryall isn’t insulated for cooling, so while you can use it to carry food and drinks, it won’t keep them chilled. But now that’s out of the way, on with the YETI Camino 20 Carryall review.

The YETI Camino 20 Carryall is described as a ‘haul-it-anywhere, up-for-anything’ tote bag. It’s equipped with CrossBar Handles as well as longer straps, so you can hold or carry it in two different ways. Spacious enough for multiple tasks, the YETI Camino 20 Carryall can be used for camping trips and beach days, as a gym bag or as something to throw in wet and dirty clothes or shoes.

For extra storage space, the YETI Camino 20 Carryall has two interior zipped pockets and deployable dividers to keep everything organised. Made from ThickSkin Shell material, the YETI Camino 20 Carryall is incredibly sturdy and durable, and has an EVA Molded Bottom that keeps the bag upright. The YETI Camino 20 Carryall is also waterproof so it can keep moisture and liquids contained without spills.

YETI Camino 20 Carryall review: performance

As mentioned above, I took the YETI Camino 20 Carryall with me on a camping trip and it came in handy right away. After doing a quick food shop, I used the YETI Camino 20 Carryall to store and carry a huge amount of food and drinks. I managed to fit big bottles of lemonade, tonic water, crisps, sweets, breakfast bars and takeaway mugs in it and the long handles made it easy to carry the YETI Camino 20 Carryall around.

Once I got to the campsite and unloaded all the food and drink, I moved to using the YETI Camino 20 Carryall as a handy waterproof bag. After I went for a lake swim, I used the YETI Camino 20 Carryall to put all my wet towels and swimming costumes inside. It kept the water contained without any spills, and the interior of the bag dried out quickly once everything was removed.

The YETI Camino 20 Carryall as a washing up bowl (Image credit: Future)

The most impressive part of the YETI Camino 20 Carryall was using it as a washing up bowl. After a barbecue, I used the YETI Camino 20 Carryall to wash up plates and bowls by filling it with soapy water. It held the water well and was the perfect shape and size to properly submerge cutlery and plates and wash it properly. Once I emptied the YETI Camino 20 Carryall of dirty water, all stains and grime easily slid off the interior material so it required little to no cleaning afterwards.

I loved the design of the YETI Camino 20 Carryall. With its bold YETI branding, it looked great while in action, and I especially loved the two different types of handles. The bottom of the bag was very sturdy and while it picked up dirt easily, it took no time to clean it up, making it an ideal outdoor companion.

YETI Camino 20 Carryall review: verdict

The YETI Camino 20 Carryall will definitely be coming with me on my next camping trip. With its practical yet attractive design, the YETI Camino 20 Carryall is incredibly versatile, and can be used as an easy wet storage bag or a washing up bowl. It might be too expensive for some, but the durable material is likely to last a long time.
