USA Basketball U18 Trials: Why these 2025 prospects made the first cut and how they can make the team
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – After four practices, the first cut was made at the USA Basketball U18 National Team Training Camp on Saturday. Five incoming college freshmen – Duke's Patrick Ngongba, Illinois'. , Purdue's Daniel Jacobsen, Arizona State's Jayden Quaintance, and Alabama's Derrion Reid – made the cut,...
Anthony Donofrio Named To All-ACC Baseball Tournament Team
North Carolina couldn’t make it to the weekend in the 2024 ACC Baseball Championship, falling to Wake Forest in a thriller on Friday night. Even with the early exit, the bigger goal remains getting to Omaha for the College World Series. But before we shift the focus to that, one Tar Heel was honored for his play in two games in Charlotte. Outfielder Anthony Donofrio was named to the All-ACC Baseball Tournament Team following Sunday’s title game. He was the lone Tar Heel to make the team after just two games. Donofrio went 5-for-10, batting .500 with two home runs, six RBIs,...
Morris smashes a grand slam in a 6-run fifth inning to help Duke advance to the ACC Tournament semis
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Zac Morris smashed a grand slam in a six-run fifth inning to help No. 6 seed Duke advance to the semifinals of the ACC Tournament with an 8-1 victory over third-seeded North Carolina State on Thursday. Duke (37-18) will play Miami on Saturday for a...
Who is Jala Wright? Duke softball pitcher one of nation's best heading into Super Regionals
Duke softball pitcher Jala Wright made her presence felt in the Durham Regional. The No. 10 Blue Devils ace pitched 13.2 innings in their three wins to advance to the Super Regionals, allowing just six hits with 17 strikeouts to one walk, helping Duke advance to the three-game series against No. 7 Missouri in Columbia.
Diamond Heels projected to be a Top 3 NCAA Tournament seed
The UNC baseball team had every chance to walk off Wake Forest in extra innings of last night’s ACC Baseball Championship matchup, but it was the Demon Deacons who decided the game with four, 12th-inning runs. North Carolina had the bases loaded with one out in the 11th inning, only for a no-call on catchers’ interference for a potential run, to shift momentum towards Wake Forest. The Diamond Heels, normally an aggressive team at the plate, decided to be selective with pitches at the worst possible time. All that aside, UNC still has 42 wins and is one of the country’s top...
Memphis powers past Durham, 5-4
Luken Baker drilled a tie-breaking home run in the eighth inning to lift Memphis past Durham 5-4 at the DBAP on Friday night. The Redbirds (26-23) hit three homers in the game, but Baker’s shot off of Durham reliever Edwin Uceta (L, 1-2) leveled the series. Baker earned the IL’s MVP award last year. Nick Dunn and Jared Young each took out Bulls starter Nathan Wiles earlier in the game.
Where UNC basketball’s transfer class ranks per 247Sports
The North Carolina Tar Heels are going to be set for the coming college basketball season. It’ll be weird not seeing Armando Bacot suiting up, plus I’m sure it’ll take some time adjusting to no Harrison Ingram. The duo provided a rare, solid 2-man post presence not seen since the Isaiah Hicks-Kennedy Meeks days. UNC is still searching for an experienced center in the transfer portal, but will be set even without one. Jalen Washington has been waiting two years behind Bacot for the starting center role, a spot which he deserves every bit of. Even with just two additions in the portal,...
Watch this! Rutgers football commit Isaiah Deloatch, a 3-star athlete, is also a good punter
Isaiah Deloatch is more than just a highly-ranked athlete and a standout sprinter. Turns out that the Rutgers football commit is also a pretty good punter. So get ready to push aside Adam Korsak in the annals of Rutgers football lore. Deloatch is the next great punter for the Scarlet Knights. (OK, just having some fun here. Korsak is the greatest of all time around Rutgers, but Deloatch is one impressive athlete…and it is Memorial Day weekend…relax…unclench your bowels…it is OK…this is just fun). A 6-foot-1, 210-pound linebacker from Hillside (Durham, North Carolina), Deloatch committed to Rutgers from an offer list that included...
