ALJ High School Recognizes Nine Student Athletes at Signing Ceremony
CLARK, NJ — On Thursday, May 23, various staff members and administrators at Arthur L. Johnson (ALJ) High School participated in a signing day ceremony to honor multiple student athletes for their years of service to Crusader Athletics and commemorate their moving on to continue their athletic and academic careers as NCAA collegiate athletes. Dayton H.S. Girls Lacrosse Team Concludes Successful Season
SPRINGFIELD, NJ -- The Dayton High School girls lacrosse team wrapped up the second season as a varsity program with a 14-5 record after losing to Rumson-Fair Haven last week in the first round of the NJSIAA South Jersey, Group 1 tournament. Before the loss in the state tournament, the Bulldogs had won six games in a row.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Dayton doubled the number of victories it had in its initial varsity season under coach Jeff Kaesshaefer on 2023. Junior Sara Kaesshaefer led Dayton with 53 goals and also had 20 assists, and junior Gianna Guensch totaled 52 goals and 17 assists. Sophomore Lauren O'Brien led the Bulldogs in assists with 28 and also scored 45 goals. Junior Sophie Lafferty finished with 23 goals and eight assists, and freshman Maya Smith scored 22 goals and was first on the team in groundballs with 48 and second in draw controls with 52. Staten Island stays on winning path as homers lead to 12-7 victory
YORK, Pa. -- The Staten Island FerryHawks are back in first place after hitting their way to a 12-7 victory over the York Revolution at WellSpan Park on Sunday. It was another strong offensive performance for Staten Island. Robert Brooks’ two-homer, five-RBI performance led the way for the FerryHawks. Ben Norman’s bat stayed hot, going 3 for 5 with two RBI. Nate Scantlin went 2 for 6 with two RBI, Taylor Motter went 3 for 5 with an RBI and Pablo Sandoval contributed with a 2-for-5, two-RBI performance.
Softball: Bayonne Blanks J.P. Stevens, 4-0, in State Tournament Opener
BAYONNE, NJ -- Caitlin Gaetani pitched a two-hitter to lead Bayonne to a 4-0 softball victory over J.P. Stevens in the first round of the Section 2, Group 4 tournament on Wednesday. NJSIAA State Boys Lacrosse Tournament; Madison Defeats Woodstown; Dodgers Advance to Quarterfinals
MADISON, NJ - The No. 7 seed Madison boys lacrosse team defeated No. 10 Woodstown 15-4 on Saturday afternoon. The Dodgers advance to face No. 2 seed Rumson-Fair Haven in the Quarterfinals on Wednesday May 29. Madison scored six goals in the first half and kept the pressure going in the second half. James Fox led Madison with four goals and two assists. Matt Spagnoleeti added three goals and three assists, Matt Lutz added three goals and four assists and Joaquin Soler added three goals. PHILLIPSBURG, NJ - Winning pitcher Makayla Lecky tossed an eight-hit shutout with seven strikeouts and also provided the only two runs of the game with a two-run homer in the fourth inning to power fifth-seeded Elizabeth past No. 12 Phillipsburg High School in a North 2 Group 4 first round game at Elizabeth High School.
