Push to protect Indiana students hits roadblock as half of schools fail to disclose if they have life-saving AEDs
INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana does not require automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in schools and on athletic fields. That may surprise many parents. Lawmakers considered and rejected that mandate in 2023. Instead, they directed the Indiana Department of Education to study the issue and determine how many AEDs are in schools and if schools are prepared to use them.
