Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City baseball saw their season come to a close as they fell to Windsor/Stew-Stras, 7-4, in the semifinals of the Casey-Westfield 1A Regional on Thursday. The Bobcats fell behind 2-0 at the end of the second inning, but got things moving in the top of the third. Conner Nowitzke singled to lead off the inning and then Clayton Wojcik and Layne Donaldson both drew walks to load the bases. Gage Lorton then became the third Bobcats in a row to draw a walk to bring their first run in. With the bases still loaded, Wyatt Rueff was hit by a pitch as another run scored to tie the game up at 2-2. AJ Radloff then reached base on a fielder’s choice that saw Donaldson score and give CHBC the 3-2 lead. That would be it for the Bobcats until late in the game as WSS put five more runs on the board to take the lead back, 7-3. Down to their final three outs in the top of the seventh, Donaldson hit a one out single to center field and Lorton followed up reaching base on an error. With the two runners on, Rueff singled to left field to score Donaldson and cut the WSS lead to 7-4. However, a fly out and a strike out would end the game, as the Bobcats suffered the 7-4 loss. CHBC ends the season with a record of 9-14.
