Summit Baseball Wins First Round of Playoffs
SUMMIT, NJ -- The Summit High School Varsity Baseball team won its first round of the NJSIAA Tournament over Ridgefield Park on Thursday, 5-0. Summit Pitcher Matthew Kurek got the win in the shutout and gave up only one hit, going six innings in recording eight strikeouts. Gavin Smith provided relief in the seventh inning. After their first year in the Watchung Division, the team ended the regular season with a very impressive 17-5-1 record in the most challenging division in Union County.
