Ground broken for Armory Square project
Ground was broken May 16 in Prince Frederick for the highly anticipated Armory Square project. The retail development will bring a new grocery chain, hardware store and other eateries to the Calvert County seat. Armory Square will be built on the former site of Calvert Middle School and in addition to anchors ALDI, Michaels and Sneade’s Ace Home Center, will feature more than a dozen local and national retailers once fully leased. To date, 10 retailers have committed to leases, including Dash-In, First Watch, Jersey Mike’s, Hangry Joe’s, Always Ice Cream and Foster’s Grille. Julie Oberg, Calvert's director of economic development said the project at the 12.5 acre site will "transform our landscape. Power outage curtails Calvert board meeting
It was during the presentation of a proclamation for National Poppy Day that the lights went out in the Calvert County commissioners’ hearing room. Dogs set to be euthanized in Prince George's Co. saved after urgent plea to community
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — Thanks to our community, 27 dogs set to be euthanized in Prince George's County have found their forever home. One more dog named Clyde is still up for adoption. He is a 1-year-old male brown Terrier mix who is described as a staff favorite and very active. He does have medical issues, canine Herpes, so it is recommended that anyone who adopts him follow up with a primary vet for information on treatment. This is not contagious to humans.
