No. 2 Mavericks Stay Unbeaten Against Cavaliers
LINDSIDE, W.Va. — James Monroe defeated Greenbrier West, 65-44, in a Class A top 10 boys basketball battle here Tuesday night. The Mavericks (12-0), ranked No. 2 in the state in the latest West Virginia Associated Press poll, stayed unbeaten on the year behind 23 points from Shad Sauvage and 13 more from Eli Allen. West, now 5-6 on the year, got 23 points from Kaiden Pack and 12 from Chase Boggs. The Cavaliers return to the court tonight at home against Summers County and Friday on the road at Meadow Bridge. Last week, West dropped a pair of games in the New River CTC Invitational played at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center in Beckley. The Cavaliers lost on Wednesday night to No. 6 ranked Webster County, 75-46. Pack had 16 points and nine rebounds for West, while Lawson Vaughn scored 13 points and had nine boards. Rye Gadd had 29 points for Webster. Thursday night it was Westside besting the Cavaliers, 75-57. Brandon Oscar led West with 22 points and five assists. Vaughan scored 13 and Boggs added 10.
