Local Journalism Icon Sam Ford to Inspire ICC Graduates at Upcoming Ceremony
ICC is pleased to announce that its alumnus, Sam Ford, will be the keynote speaker at the graduation ceremony on May 11th, 2024, at Memorial Hall. Ford, originally from Kansas, started his studies at ICC in 1970, the year the college moved to its current location. He attended ICC for one year before transferring to the University of Kansas to continue his education.
Local Spotlight: Coffeyville Community College Boosts Kansas Economy and Job Training
Kansas community colleges are observing National Community College Month, emphasizing their role in the state's economy. During April, these institutions are focusing on their contributions to economic growth and workforce training. A study by Lightcast in November 2023 found that from 2021 to 2022, Kansas' community colleges added $6.7 billion to the state's economy, which is about 3.3% of the gross state product.
Mark Your Calendars: Coffeyville Community College Reschedules 'Noises Off' Performances
Coffeyville Community College has updated the schedule for its upcoming musical, 'Noises Off' by Michael Frayn, to better meet audience needs after unexpected changes. The performances are now scheduled to start with STUDENT NIGHT on Thursday, April 25th at 7 PM, where students with IDs can enter a raffle for a chance to win one of six $25 gift cards. Additional shows will take place on Friday, April 26th at 7 PM and a final matinee on Sunday, April 28th at 2 PM.
Dr. Jonathan Sadhoo Named Interim President of Independence Community College
The ICC Board of Trustees has appointed Dr. Jonathan Sadhoo as the interim president of Independence Community College (ICC), effective May 15th. This decision follows the resignation of the former president, Dr. Vincent Bowhay, announced in February. Dr. Sadhoo, who has been with ICC since 2019 as the Vice President for Administration & Finance and Chief Financial Officer, is recognized for his leadership and experience in higher education.
