Site of historic Connor Hotel in Joplin went from public library to a planned Science Center
The Connor Hotel was a beaux-arts style building located at 324 Main Street in Joplin, Missouri (Jasper County). It was constructed between 1906 and 1908. This building will be remembered for its unforeseen collapse in 1978 killing two men, one day before it was scheduled to be demolished. It had been previously listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 28, 1973.
Omaha developer proposes Prospect Village, largest Joplin development since 2011 tornado
An Omaha developer is planning a project for Joplin that would be one of the largest in the city's history. Woodsonia Real Estate plans to build Prospect Village, a 78-acre mixed-use development, on a currently blighted lot in southwest Joplin. If built, it would be the largest development in Joplin since the devastating 2011 tornado and even farther back to construction of the Northpark Mall, which opened in 1972.
City of Pittsburg steps in to aid Stillwell Apartments Elevator
PITTSBURG, Kans.- Tenants in the Stilwell Apartment building are still seeking answers about the ongoing delay in repairing the building's elevator, which has been out of service since February. The four-story building is operated by a non-profit board, but residents say they have not received clear information on the status of repairs.
