Falcons close out season 25-3
Forbush closed out its season on Wednesday in the third round of the NCHSAA state 2A playoffs with a 2-0 loss to North Stanly. The Falcons ended the season 25-3. Thomas Conrad had 21 outs during the game. Conrad, Colton Moxley, Bo Moxley, Riley Campbell, and Dylan McClamrock each had one hit during the game. Forbush was ranked 4th and lost to the 5th ranked team. “We gave up two runs in the 3rd inning with two outs on back to back doubles. The pitcher we faced was a Wingate University commit. Thomas pitched outstanding for us and we had chances to score in several innings but just couldn’t get a hit with runners in scoring position,” said Forbush Baseball Coach Jack Moss.

Elkin Wet Lightning summer swim team registration open
On-line registration for the Elkin Wet Lightning summer swim team is now open for all area swimmers ages 5 thru 18 (age as of June 1, 2024). EWL is a summer rec program that competes within the Blue Ridge Swim League. Swimmers will have the opportunity to practice each weekday morning and then compete with teams in Dobson, Mount Airy, Hillsville, Galax and Wytheville, Virginia. Forbush to hold baseball camp
Forbush will hold baseball camps for future Falcons on May 30 and 31. Elementary camp for grades pre-K through fifth grade will be on May 30 and 31 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost is $70. For grades sixth through eighth, camp will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on May 30. The cost is $35. Pre-registration is required.
Welborn signs with Catawba College
Elkin High School senior and stand-out swimmer, Sophie Welborn, has signed her National Letter of Intent to swim for Catawba College in Salisbury. Welborn remarked, “My family and I visited six colleges across four different states, each of them had some of the things I was looking for, but none of them felt like home.
