Bloomfield Football Falls to Nutley, 20-7
Turnovers and missed opportunities haunted the Bloomfield High football team, which fell to 0-2 following a 20-7 setback to Nutley, on Sept. 6, at Foley Field.Head coach Mike Carter's team will look to rebound, on a short week, when it plays host to Montclair, on Sept. 12, starting at 6:30 p.m. Nutley (1-1) controlled the line of scrimmage in the second half, and forced some key Bloomfield turnovers to hold the Bengals to one score. Bloomfield trailed, 7-0, in the second quarter, but came back to tie it on a short run by Jeremy Tejada, followed by a successful point after kick by Jo'elle Urdanivia. Tejada completed some nice passes to Michael Mickens and Christian Cradle on the scoring drive. Nutley would regain the lead, 14-7, late in the second quarter. After a scoreless third quarter, the Raiders put the game away with a fourth quarter score.For the second straight game, Bloomfield had chances in the red zone, but couldn't capitalize, past the one touchdown.
