Lowndes County Schools Superintendent Sam Allison issued a recorded message to parents from Caledonia Elementary School stating that a weapon had been discovered on the school's grounds. Allison urged that the situation had been handled and that there was no immediate threat to students or staff.

Houston Man, Along with his Dog, Dies in Car Accident
A Houston man lost his life due to a car crash when his truck left the road and struck a tree early Friday morning around 7 am. The accident occured just east of Houston near the Buena Vista area, on County Road 406 in Chickasaw County.
