Governor Reynolds Enacts New Law Impacting Aid for Iowa Central Community College
On May 8, 2024, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed Senate File 2405 into law at the Iowa Statehouse. This law changes how state aid is distributed to Iowa's 15 community colleges, including Iowa Central Community College. The signing was attended by Dr. Jesse Ulrich, president of Iowa Central, and Jim Kersten, vice president of external affairs and government relations at the college.

The 2024 Iowa Central Commencement Ceremonies are set for today, May 10th, 2024, and will be streamed online. The first session starts at 9:45 a.m. CST, with the commencement beginning at 10:00 a.m. CST. This session will recognize graduates who have earned High School Equivalency Diplomas, various diplomas (excluding nursing), and associates in Applied Science, Applied Arts, and Professional Studies.
La' James cosmetology school to refund more than $200,000 to settle Iowa student loan suit
An Iowa cosmetology school with a long and checkered history of financial issues has agreed to refund hundreds of thousands of dollars to students whose financial aid checks it delayed or withheld. The refunds are the result of a settlement in a class-action lawsuit filed in 2020 against La' James International College, a for-profit chain of schools with locations in Johnston, Fort Dodge, Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids and Davenport. ...
