Tropical Trouble Brewing: Flood Threat for Louisiana and East Texas Next Week
SHREVEPORT — Issued by the National Weather Service at 3:34 AM on September 8, 2024. Tropical System Could Trigger Flooding by Mid-Week. A tropical weather system forming in the northwest Gulf of Mexico could bring significant rainfall and potential flooding to parts of Deep East Texas and Northern and Northeastern Louisiana by mid to late next week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Shreveport. Forecasters warn that if this system develops, heavy rains will start impacting the Four-State Region as early as Tuesday, intensifying on Wednesday and Thursday.
