Division III and IV softball: Oak Harbor to face former league foe in regional semifinal
Three Toledo-area high school softball teams will be chasing regionals in Division III and Division IV this week. In Division III, sixth-ranked NBC champion Oak Harbor (24-2, 11-1) looks to earn its second trip to the state final four in three years after reaching the D-II semifinals in 2022. The Rockets of second-year coach Cami Haas face former longtime Sandusky Bay Conference foe Margaretta (19-10) in Wednesday's 5 p.m. semifinal at Findlay High School. Two area teams have qualified for regionals in Division IV, with Buckeye Border Conference runner-up Montpelier (17-7, 7-1) facing Monroeville in the 5 p.m. semifinal at Rossford, and SBC River Division member Fremont St. Joseph (12-13) facing eighth-ranked Vienna Mathews in a 2 p.m. semifinal at Berea.

CLYDE, Ohio — Hitting a walk-off home run to win a game is what players dream of. For Perrysburg's Jessica Miller, it became reality Friday. With Springfield surging to tie the game late, Miller took advantage of a pitch over the plate, slamming a solo shot over the left-field fence, lifting second-seeded Perrysburg to a 9-8 Division I district championship over the third-seeded Blue Devils at Joe Wilson Field at Clyde High School. "I was really hoping to hit a line drive just to get on base," Miller said. "A walk is a walk. I was going to be on base and I knew at some point, I was going to be that winning run."
Track and field roundup: Oak Harbor boys claim victory at Division II district meet
OAK HARBOR, Ohio — Oak Harbor defended its home track on Saturday, winning the Division II boys track and field district competition. The Rockets scored 131 points, topping second-place Eastwood’s 107. Central Catholic (66) was third, followed by Clyde (60) and Lake (47). Sandusky Perkins won the girls meet with 111 points, Oak Harbor was second at 85, followed by Port Clinton (79), Lake (71.5), and Clyde (62). Oak Harbor’s Tyler Thompson claimed a sprint double in the boys meet, with the junior claiming the 100-meter dash in 10.90 seconds and the 200 in 21.98. Sophomore Wyatt Augsburger had a hurdles double, winning the 110 hurdles in 14.88 and the 300 hurdles in 40.14.
