Boost Your College Prospects: Local ACT Prep Workshop at Wallace State on July 26
The Wallace State Community College Alumni Association will host an ACT Prep Workshop on Wednesday, July 26, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The workshop will be held on the second floor of the Bailey Center and is designed to help students prepare for the ACT. FAIRVIEW, Ala. – The Cullman County Board of Education (CCBOE) at its May 20, 2024, meeting approved Superintendent Dr. Shane Barnette’s recommendation to hire Dr. Brad Stapler as the next principal of Fairview High School. Stapler replaces Dr. Johnny Whaley, who is leaving Cullman County Schools after more than 20 years of service to pursue a new opportunity with the Alabama State Department of Education. Wallace State Community College (WSCC) has been selected as a semifinalist for the 2025 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, awarded by the Aspen Institute. Non-resident student enrollment open for Cullman City Schools
CULLMAN, Ala. – Registration is now open for students who live outside Cullman City Schools’ city limits, but would still like to potentially attend school within the district.Families interested in enrollment for non-resident students should contact the applicable school for more information, as availability is based on space in the applicable grade levels at each school. Kindergarten through second-grade students attend Cullman City Primary School; third-grade through sixth-grade students attend East or West Elementary Schools (availability depending on grade level); seventh- and eighth-grade students attend Cullman Middle School; and ninth- through 12th-grade students attend Cullman High School.Tuition for non-resident students is $1,000 per student capped at $5,000 per family per academic year. Once approved, payments will be accepted beginning May 1, 2024, with a 10% discount if paid in full be 3 p.m. on July 1, 2024. The payment deadline for non-resident students is 4 p.m. on July 31, 2024.Cullman City Schools is one of the top-rated school districts in the state of Alabama, consistently ranked in the Top 10 for test scores and student achievement across all grade levels and receiving an “A” rating consistently on the state education report card.
Holly Pond seniors learn life skills at Adulting 101 Day
HOLLY POND, Ala. – On Thursday, May 2, seniors at Holly Pond High School were peppered with lessons on how to be an adult in today’s world. The series of courses was dubbed Adulting 101; the students were shown aspects of finance, professionalism, lawn and auto care, childcare and many more skills that are necessary to be fully self-sufficient and functioning adults.
